Submerged is a body of paintings that explores what happens when we allow ourselves to sink beneath the surface of feeling, memory, and the unconscious currents that shape our lives.

Submerged explores immersion as both surrender and reckoning, using water as a metaphor for the unconscious, memory, and emotional depth. Built through layers of acrylic, ink, graphite, and mixed media, the paintings evoke underwater atmospheres where form dissolves into currents, eddies, and shifting light. Scratched lines recall reeds and submerged branches while circular gestures echo stones, moons, and tidal rhythms. Influenced by Blue Mind Theory and the psychological pull of water, the work inhabits a liminal space between refuge and force—where immersion becomes a way of confronting grief, renewal, and the vast interior landscapes that move beneath the surface of daily life. The series was presented as an immersive solo exhibition at Anno Artem, where sound, scent, and lighting transformed the gallery into an atmospheric environment that extended the sensory world of the paintings.
